Perth Surf Report for Beginners & Kids
Best Beginners & Kids Surf Spots*
Perth to Lancelin
Perth Metro Beaches are best on mid sized swells & Easterly winds which normally occur early to mid morning in the summer months before swinging South to West later.
The surf is often small on Perth beaches so the more consistent spots are often crowded like Trigg to Scarbourough & Mullaloo Beach, so find a spot up or down the beach with fewer crowds with the higher tide often best.
Up the coast, Lancelin Back Beach can be a fun option on smaller swells & on North to Easterly winds.
Secret Harbour to Cape Naturaliste
A short drive South of Perth, Secret Harbour Beach is consistently the best spot on the coast & best on mid sized swells & North East to Easterly winds - again find a spot along the beach with fewer crowds.
On very large swells & Southerly winds the very sheltered North facing beaches between Cape Naturaliste & Dunsborough can have a smaller wave along with the Southern ends of beaches at North Freemantle & Mandurah potential options for marginal shelter from the swell & wind.
* Some of these surf spots are not patrolled by lifeguards. Remember to always surf safely & practise good surfing etiquette.
